Feature Writing - Featuring Me
This is my third term in a row of introducing myself and I couldn't be happier about it. Happy to get out of this chapter of my life and move on to the next. The state of limbo I have felt myself in pulls tight in my chest everyday, with a pit in my stomach that makes me want to throw up.
I'm Kate, a Communication major here at LBCC and am in my final term before transferring to OSU for my Bachelors. My biggest goal is to have my own event planning company one day.I'm 25 years old and a mom to the sweetest, most sour 2 year old that is my world. I've been in and out of the restaurant industry for the last 5 years and after taking a term's length break from work, I'm a server and barista again in Downtown Albany.
I enjoy writing, reading, working out, and spending time with those that I love. I chose to take this class because I want to be able to write stories that make the reader feel like they are in the story too. I wrote a couple of pieces for The Commuter last term during my News Reporting class.
In this Feature Writing class, I'm excited to read Stephen King's book "On Writing" because I have been dying for a good page turner and it sounds like this is exactly that! I'm also looking forward to diving deeper into my writing through emotion and description but in fewer words.
Some goals I have for myself this term is to write each story with passion no matter what I'm writing about, write a couple of extra pieces on the side to submit to The Commuter, and staying motivated for each of my commitments.
